~How They Met: In the fall of 1998 (Monday, October 5th, to be exact), Aaron Simon and Holly Case both attended a Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) meeting in the Central Washington University's (CWU) Student Union Building, Room 206-207, in Ellensburg, Washington. Holly was sitting near the corner of the room. Aaron was near the opposite corner. That evening Aaron offered to design the student SHRM chapter webpage and he needed a list of all the chapter officers. As it turns out he also needed to get the names of the officers to be. Holly was one of them. Aaron had noticed her before, walking down the halls of the Shaw/Smyser (The CWU School of Business and Economics). It was hard not to, with her beautiful eyes and radiant smile. But, now he had a legitimate reason to speak with her. Of course, he needed her name and phone number...for the webpage... So, Aaron approached Holly as she was leaving and said, "I have to ask you something...will you give me your name and phone number...for the web page?" And that is how it began... ~How They Fell In Love: As the Fall quarter of school went on the two began a friendship together. Working on SHRM projects and attending meetings for the club. They even had some of the same classes together. Unfortunately, they were not involved in any projects outside of SHRM. Aaron was attending classes in Wenatchee, Washington, via satellite, and was rarely able to make it to the Ellensburg campus during that quarter. Then, there was a twist of fate... The classes that Aaron needed for Winter quarter were not being offered in Wenatchee, so he had to get an apartment in Ellensburg and move there in January of 1999. This provided Aaron with extra time to become more active in SHRM and thus, get to know Holly better. One evening after a particularly tense meeting Aaron called up Holly and asked her if she wanted to go out and grab a bite to eat. She agreed. This was the first social meeting between the two of them that was not related to school. Aaron drove over to Holly's apartment and picked her up. They went to Perkins Restaurant, on the outskirts of town. The couple enjoyed their time together and soon they were spending nearly all their free time either having dinner at local restaurants, like their favorite El Caporal. Or talking on the phone for hours, like the time before they each had an exam in their Labor Relations class. They would even go together on trips to Yakima, Washington, to get groceries at Costco. Aaron and Holly both knew that they shared something special in the friendship that they had. Aaron would give Holly little gifts like drawings or stuffed animals to show is affection. Holly would make dinner or buy him music that she knew he liked. The Winter quarter flew by and soon Aaron would have to move back home for an internship that he had arranged with a local company in Wenatchee. A week before the internship started Holly and Aaron attended a 3-day SHRM Conference together in Oregon and that is when the friendship turned into something more. The couple shared their first kiss on that trip, and Holly told Aaron that she loved him... The day came when Aaron had to move back to Wenatchee. He missed Holly so much that he had to call her just to hear her voice. He then realized that he truly loved her as well. Aaron would drive to Ellensburg to attend class and spend as much time as possible with Holly before he graduated June 11, 1999. After graduation Aaron got a job in Tacoma, Washington. Still, he would drive over to Ellensburg every weekend to visit Holly while she finished her schooling. She graduated in December 6, 1999. ~How He Proposed On Holly's final day of college the couple packed her car to move over to Federal Way where Aaron was living. They reminisced on how much their lives had changed in college and how much fun they had in the little town of Ellensburg. As they walked across campus to turn in Holly's final paper Aaron suggested that they stop by the place where they met. To Holly's surprise there was a bouquet of flowers sitting at the very spot that they first met and spoke to each other. And then it happened...just like before--at the Student Union Building, Room 206-207, in Ellensburg, Washington. Holly sat down near the corner of the room. Aaron sat down near the opposite corner. Holly was breathtaking with her beautiful eyes and radiant smile. Aaron and Holly stood up and approached each other and Aaron said, "I have to ask you something..." (dropping to one knee) "Holly, will you marry me?" And that is how it began... ~Where We Will Be Married The couple will be married at Snoqualmie Ridge Golf Club in Snoqualmie, WA, October 20, 2000.
